The Simpson family have been conducting guided tours around their home since the 1960s.

During that period the owners have displayed a variety of exhibitions including a period costume exhibition, militaria, natural history and ship models. The newest addition to the tour these days is the large archaeological dig. This has provided considerable interest, as we believe we have the remains of a Norman Castle inside the grounds. The discoveries on the mound have reshaped the tours that are conducted in the house as the finds tie in with the various occupants that have lived at Burton Court over the centuries. We now have collected the largest medieval pottery find in Herefordshire.

What’s Included

The tour will be conducted by the owners and will include all the main rooms on the ground floor; the 900 years of history of the Court; the gardens and the archaeological mound. In addition, we can arrange tea and coffee in the garden room and gardens during the summer months; cream scone teas or more elaborate dining for larger numbers in the main reception rooms. The tours are available all year round. The minimum number of guests for a guided tour is 12, and we also require that bookings are made in advance. Prices are from £8 per person, children under 16 £4, children under 5 free.

We are situated in the heart of the Black and White Village Trail, a delightful local tourist attraction. See the Visit Herefordshire website to see more tourism attractions in the area.

Please contact Edward Simpson for more details about a guided tour around the house and grounds.

Thank you very much for the tour and tea at Burton Court yesterday. The happy conversation in the coach home expressed the pleasure everyone felt in the relaxed atmosphere you created and at being able to wander in and out of your house at leisure to look at the photos, paintings etc. The tea and delicious cakes were much enjoyed, and your charming daughter broke quite a few hearts!
